Academy of Muscle Biology, Exercise & Health Research (AMBEHR)
Inactivity and limited use of the musculskeletal system is one important contributor to morbidity and mortality in our society. Investigations into musculoskeletal metabolism, structure and function, and its ability to adapt to changes can bridge current gaps in our knowledge of the interplay between the musculoskeletal and other organ systems in the human body. Understanding disease and injury mechanism(s) can improve prevention efforts as it relates to physcial activity in diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and musculoskeletal movement disorders. Thus, the overall aim of the academy is advance the field of muscle biology in relation to physical activity and health, and the academy anticipates to achieve this aim by serving as a pivotal point for education and science at the highest national and international level. |
